Self- Portrait Sculpture
Self-Portrait, was created during my freshman sculpture class, inspired by a poem I wrote. Made from clay, wire, flowers, and discarded materials, it forms a faceless bust with a metallic finish achieved through spray paint, altering the original texture of the materials. The piece delves into shifting emotions, the collapse and rebuilding of the inner spiritual world, and the journey of self-reflection and growth. By combining poetry and sculpture, I explore themes of identity, solitude, and the contradictions of existence. In my concluding response—"I am not beast, I am not a god. I am myself. I am free. Not freewheeling, Is Self-Domain"—I affirm my pursuit of personal independence and self-awareness.
